A quick, late-night note: if you are the parent of a Suzuki student (or any student, for that matter), and would like some help and encouragement, sign up for the Suzuki Association of the Americas' Parents as Partners On-line seminars. These are short (8-18 minute) videos put together by a number of very fine Suzuki teachers and teacher-trainers, specifically designed to help parents in their work with their children.
I watched the first one a night or two ago, and found delightful, informative and inspiring. The topics so far include
"7 Guarantees for More Progress during Practice,"
"Why Tone?" and
"How You Can Be Helpful and Supportive of Your Teacher."
I'm looking forward to watching "The Power of Music".
There is a cost ($25 for SAA members, $45 for non-members), but the seminars will be available through June, s you have plenty of time to watch them over and over. It will be money well spent.
